Understanding Keyword Density

Keyword density is calculated by dividing the number of times a keyword appears on a page by the total number of words, then multiplying by 100. For example, if a keyword appears 10 times in a 1,000-word article, the density is 1%. While there is no ideal keyword density, most SEO professionals recommend keeping primary keywords at 1-2%. Density above 3% may be flagged as keyword stuffing. Modern search engines use natural language processing (NLP) and semantic understanding, making exact keyword density less important than topical relevance, semantic variations, and comprehensive content coverage. Focus on writing naturally while ensuring your target keyword and related terms appear throughout the content.
